1. Many different varieties are available of the pepper spray and foggers are said to be one of the best quality sprays due to their long range. They have got about 15 to 20 feet range and create misty conditions in front of the attacker leaving him helpless.
2. Number of shots is important too. For example, the foggers may have fewer shots in them, so you have to make sure to have back ups in emergencies.
3. While attacking, try to spray the pepper spray directly on face of the attacker so that instant effect is produced. He will have temporary blindness, choking, and paralyzed feeling in limbs. Choosing a misty spray therefore is important as it creates desired effect even from long distance.
4. One should also consider the percentage of pepper used in the spray and the heat rating. The strengths used by police during mob attacks are obviously stronger and not needed for individual users. Also one has to make sure that particular strength is allowable by the state laws.
